Combining Functional Prototyping of 3D Printed Reactors with a Modular Reactor Setup for Continuous Emulsion Polymerization

The potential for fast and specific process optimization by functional prototyping with 3D printed reactors was shown a known continuous emulsion polymerization in modular setup. Three tubular reactors, two static mixing elements continuously stirred tank reactor (CSTR) were from polylactic acid. Thermal imaging of the allows to map basically adiabatic progress redox-started radical space-resolved way. application led higher conversion stability more uniform product, as expected better mass transfer. Polymerization combinations CSTR showed further improvements product uniformity terms particle size mol masses.
